I’m visiting Bucharest with my wife, who is Romanian. The day before, she noticed this new restaurant at the mall, and after I looked into it, we decided to try it for lunch. We both wanted salads; she ordered the zucchini salad and I ordered the seafood salad that looked great in the photo. Unfortunately, they were out of zucchini, so I ended up with the seafood salad as well.
When the dish arrived, it looked fine at first. But then I noticed the shrimp had been cut in half. That immediately felt cheap and deceptive—especially since the menu photo clearly showed whole shrimp. I’ve eaten plenty of seafood salads before and have never seen shrimp sliced like that. It came across as a way to make the portion look larger while actually giving less.
The disappointing part is that the salad itself was tasty. But presentation and honesty matter. When a customer feels tricked, it damages trust. Restaurants succeed not only because of good food and service, but also because they deliver fair value. On that front, we walked away feeling cheated.
